This is definitely my favorite painting of the series. This sailfish electrifies a room. The beautiful shades of blue and purple sing when placed against the warm orange and yellow in the background. At bit of trivia, The shape of the turquoise waves was borrowed from one of the stained glass windows in our church.
Hello!, I am Steve Shaw, an artist, teacher and former boat captain based in Atlanta, Georgia. I have been creating paintings and sculpture for the past 20 years of my life. When I am not teaching art at the The Schenck School or out fishing, you can find me creating art in my studio or spending time with my wife Natalie and our kids, Marin and Finn. My journey into the art world is different than most. When I was 22 years old, I made the life-changing decision to trade in my coat-and-tie corporate job to become a boat captain in Key West, Florida. In the seven adventurous years I spent there, I realized my true calling was to create and teach. Now that my kids are older I am finding more time to get in my studio and paint....
